Hooray!

Hooray! Today I got a sofa! At last, I have something to slouch on at the end of the day. Despite what it may look like from the photo, I am actually happy about it! And, it has a bed hidden inside so I have somewhere for guests to sleep now too. How exciting.

Feeling my age

I have a habit of remembering songs from commercials/adverts and every now and again will sing one out loud. The other day whilst eating lunch with Miller, our lab technician, the word tasty was used. This prompted me to remember and 'sing' "tasty, tasty, very very tasty, their very tasty!". Miller had no idea what I was talking about. I said "It's from a commercial, for something like breakfast cereal I think, maybe you didn't have it in America". So, I 'googled' the phrase and found that it was indeed for a breakfast cereal, Kellogg's Bran Flakes from back in 1982. "Ah" said Miller, "I wouldn't know that one then". Of course, he wasn't even alive in 1982. In fact, he wasn't even a twinkle in his Daddy's eye!!

It's my 29 1/2 birthday next week.

Enjoying my kitchen

Since I've been unable to upload photos for a little while I though I'd wet your taste buds with these juicy treats...

Beer-butt chicken. Hidden from view is a can of Tecate. Possibly the tastiest, most tenderist chicken you'll eat.

Putting the pizza dough setting of the bread machine to use

The classic happy site for a Saturday morning

Whilst it is nice to get something in your mailbox, I am fed up with receiving all of those packages of money off coupons and adverts for cable TV that I don't need, supermarkets that I don't shop at, tires for the car I don't own, cosmetic surgery (for MY perfect body!?), etc etc. Already, by Wednesday of this week, I have received one from penny savers, shopwise, and savvyshoppers. So, this evening I have contacted all of them to be asked to be removed from their mailing lists. We'll see how long that takes. They told me it may take up to five or six weeks. I suspect they will hope that I will have forgotten by then.

Washing up = Lab book

I have come to the conclusion that washing up is much like my lab book.

I have been behind on my washing up for about two weeks now. My lab book is also about two weeks behind. I have tried to catch up with both but there is a constant flow of dirty dishes and experiments to write up so unless you completely catch up you're always behind. Today, that's going to change, starting with the washing up. That would be why I'm sitting at the computer procrastinating...
